Monmouth County Weights & Measures staff testing gas pumps for accuracy. The Monmouth County Division of Weights & Measures is a division whose work touches everyone’s lives in some way by ensuring fairness in the marketplace.

Presently in the State of New Jersey every weighing and/or measuring device used in trade must be inspected and tested for accuracy a minimum of once a year. Devices include, but are not limited to, grocery scales, pharmacy balances, gasoline pumps, fuel oil trucks, etc.

This division also continually reweighs, recounts, and remeasures packages in the market place to verify the labeled quantity. Prices of items are also checked to ensure that scanner read-outs reflect the advertised dollar amount.

The Weights & Measures Office is located at 250 Center Street, Freehold, NJ 07728 and is open Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Interested parties should call 732-431-7362 or email weightsandmeasures@co.monmouth.nj.us with any inquiries or complaints they may have. The fax number is 732-683-8590.
