Under the general direction of the Interim Executive County Superintendent of Schools, supervises the design, production and delivery of special education curricula, training, program improvement, and related education services to education agencies to ensure the achievement of mandated goals and to meet existing and emerging needs; performs mandated regulatory functions; and monitors and evaluates education programs in school districts statewide. May approve facilities and implement program improvement services in assigned districts in the special needs education program area. May review and approve all local school district special education programs and services. May approve placement of all educationally handicapped pupils in private schools for the handicapped, intermediate units and state-operated programs, may assist local school districts and parents in resolving conflicts pursuant to due process procedures.
