Online
surplus auction is June 15-18
Item sales will close at 6 p.m. on June 18
FREEHOLD, NJ – The Monmouth County
Board of Chosen Freeholders recently announced that the 2019 Monmouth County
spring surplus auction will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 15 and continue
through 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18.
“The online surplus auction brings
in revenue to the County, which ultimately saves taxpayer dollars,” said
Freeholder Gerry P. Scharfenberger, Ph.D., liaison to the Department of
Finance. “Because bidders can monitor sales electronically, we often have more
participants bidding on our surplus from other states.”
Surplus items from the County’s
Fleet Services, Sheriff’s Office, Buildings and Grounds, Reclamation Center, and
Park System will be sold.
Items for sale will be available
for viewing from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, June 17 and Tuesday, June 18 at
the Department of Public Works and Engineering Complex at 250 Center St.,
Freehold.
Items to be sold may be inspected
by appointment only on Monday, June 17 and Tuesday, June 18 at the Monmouth
County Reclamation Center, 6000 Asbury Avenue, Tinton Falls. Interested bidders
should contact John Jackowski at 732-890-5191 to make an appointment.
“In addition to reaching bidders in
different states, having the entire auction online cuts labor costs associated
with setup, staffing and security,” said Freeholder Director Thomas A. Arnone,
liaison to the Department of Public Works and Engineering. “The online surplus
auction is a win-win for the County and the public.”
Successful bidders will be able to pick up their item or
items at the County’s Public Works Complex at 250 Center St., Freehold, between
8 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 20 and Friday, June 21.
Successful
bidders who do not pick up their items at the County’s Public Works Complex by
3 p.m. on Friday, June 21 will be liable for storage fees equal to 2% of
the sale price per business day or $25.00 per business day, whichever is
greater, until the merchandise is removed by the Buyer, for up to 10 business
days.
The
County began conducting online surplus property auctions in 2008. To date, the
online auctions have netted more than $2 million dollars for the County.
The auction will be conducted by
the USGovBid/Auction Liquidation Services. A full list of the auction items,
with pictures, descriptions and terms of sale, will be posted on June 15 at www.usgovbid.com. All bidders must pre-register with the auctioneer at www.govauctionlistservices.com.
