County Rental
Assistance Housing Choice Vouchers
online pre-applications available
FREEHOLD, NJ – The Monmouth County
Public Housing Agency (MCPHA), as part of the Division of Social Services, is
providing Housing Choice Vouchers (HCV), formerly called Section 8 vouchers, to
potential tenants. Pre-applications for the Monmouth County Rental Assistance
HCV Program lottery will be available online only from June 17 to June 21, 2019
on www.VisitMonmouth.com.
“I am so proud to say that the
Division of Social Services in one of the few county welfare agencies in the
State to be designated as a public housing agency,” said Freeholder Susan M.
Kiley, liaison to the County’s Division of Social Services. “MCPHA offers
multiple HUD-funded rent subsidies including HCV to help low-income families,
the disabled and the elderly afford safe, sanitary housing in Monmouth County.”
Details, including eligibility
information, will be listed on the first page of the pre-application. Letters
indicating selection for the waiting list will not be sent until August 15,
2019. Applicants not selected will not receive a letter and their
pre-application will be discarded. The Division of Social Services will not
return phone calls regarding application status and waitlisting.
The Affordable Housing Alliance
(AHA) will offer free assistance to anyone who does not have access to the
internet. AHA can be reached by calling 732-389-2958.
As part of the Division of Social
Services, MCPHA was authorized by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban
Development (HUD) to provide rent subsidies to Monmouth County residents on
July 5, 1977.
