HOWELL TO LAKEWOOD TRANSMISSION MAIN PROJECT REQUIRES PARKLAND DIVERSION OF A PORTION OF HOWELL PARK GOLF COURSE
The County of
Monmouth is accepting public comment regarding certain improvements to the
public water distribution system.
HOWELL
TOWNSHIP, NJ – The County of Monmouth has submitted an application to the New
Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, Green Acres Program, proposing
to divert 0.25 acres of open space that are part of Howell Park Golf Course
identified as Block 50, Lot 46, Howell Township, in connection with the New
Jersey American Water (NJAW) Howell To Lakewood Transmission Main Project. Two
forms of monetary compensation are applicable for the proposed Major Diversion of
a portion of the parcel owned by the County of Monmouth. A 10:1 monetary compensation applies for the
value of the land within the diversion area, and separate monetary compensation
applies for the replacement of trees to be lost as a result of the project.
Pursuant
to N.J.A.C. 7:36-26.11 and N.J.S.A. 40A:12-13.5a(3), two hearings to obtain
public comment on this diversion application will be held at:

information submitted by the County of Monmouth to the Green Acres Program in
support of this requested diversion of parkland is available for public review
at the Howell Township Clerk’s Office located at the Howell Township Municipal
Building, the Howell Public Library located at 318 Old Tavern Road, Howell, NJ
07731, and the Green Acres Program, 501 East State Street, Station Plaza
Building 5, Trenton, NJ.
All
parties are invited to attend and participate in the public hearings. Written
comments on the diversion application may be directed to: Andrew R. Coeyman, Supervisor, Land

comments submitted on this diversion application to: New Jersey Department of Environmental

Public
comment on this diversion application will be accepted during the public
hearings or in writing until April 16, 2019.
