Freeholders walk with County employees
to promote wellness

FREEHOLD, NJ – Monmouth County Freeholder Director Thomas A. Arnone and Freeholder Deputy Director Serena DiMaso joined County workers on Friday, May 20 for a 30-minute walk to promote Monmouth County employee wellness.

“Exercise is a great way to increase energy and re-charge,” said Arnone. “We want our employees to be happy and productive at their jobs and let them know we support them in making that happen. To have more than 280 walkers was an outstanding turnout and I am pleased everyone is taking their health seriously not only for themselves, but their families, too.”

The Walk at Lunch event was intended for employees to celebrate wellness and receive information about improving physical and mental health. It was held at the Monmouth County Sherriff’s Office.

“The walk was part of a six week wellness initiative the County has taken to encourage our employees to live a healthier lifestyle,” said Freeholder Deputy Director DiMaso. “As a busy mom myself, I know that we are often so busy taking care of others that we often neglect our own health and well-being. Taking a walk at lunch time is a relatively simple way to include activity in our daily life, no matter how busy we are. It also enables us to perform at peak efficiency on our jobs.”

Representatives from health service organizations, insurance companies, pharmacy providers, dental services and retirement planners were on hand to provide and explain information related to living a healthy lifestyle and planning for the future.
