Rumson & Sea Bright -
Rumson-Sea Bright Bridge (S-32), Rumson Road (CR520)
Monmouth County is conducting a study for major rehabilitation or replacement of the existing Bridge S-32 on Rumson Road (County Route 520) over the Shrewsbury River which is showing its age. The current phase of this project is Local Concept Development (LCD). During this phase a Purpose and Need Statement will be developed focusing on the need to improve safety and maintain the current crossing over the Shrewsbury River. The LCD phase elements also include data collection; coordination with the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA), New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT), Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), local stakeholders, and permitting agencies; the development of reasonable number of sensible and practical conceptual alternatives; the development of a Preliminary Preferred Alternative, and to investigate various aspects of the project. These aspects include environmental, right of way, access, utilities, design, community involvement, constructability, and cost.
