Rumson & Middletown – Oceanic Bridge (S-31)

Monmouth County, in cooperation with the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA), New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), is conducting a study for major rehabilitation or replacement of the existing Oceanic Bridge (S-31) over the Navesink River to address its structural deficiencies and to maintain an important transportation connection between the Township of Middletown, the Borough of Rumson and the surrounding communities.

The current phase of the project is the Local Concept Development (LCD) Study phase.  During this phase, a Purpose and Need Statement will be developed focusing on the need to improve safety and maintain the current crossing over the Navesink River.  The LCD Study phase also includes data collection, community outreach, initial contacts with regulatory agencies, selection of a reasonable number of sensible and practical conceptual alternatives, the development of a Preliminary Preferred Alternative (PPA), etc.

As part of the Oceanic Bridge LCD Study, the Project Team, (consisting of Monmouth County, NJTPA, NJDOT, and consultants), has developed the below Community Input Survey to solicit public input regarding the Purpose and Need of this bridge structure for all modes of transportation which utilize it.  The Project Team would appreciate your taking a few minutes to complete the below Community Input Survey.
