The Monmouth County Department of Consumer Affairs has been serving consumers since 1977. During that time, the Monmouth County office has handled over 50,000 complaints and resolved disputes which resulted in savings to consumers of over twelve million dollars.
As it is our principal objective to carry out and enforce State consumer laws, we will always attempt to assist consumers whether violations are present or not. We work with businesses and maintain good working relationships with them.
In 2010, this department handled over 900 complaints and received restitution for consumers in excess of $630,000.
