Our objective is to enhance the quality of life of Monmouth County Older Adults and their caregivers through the planning and delivery of services by highly effective employees in partnership with public and private organizations. We are committed to providing services with respect, care and accountability.
The Office on Aging continues advocacy for the elderly by advising local government of the needs of older adults, recommending legislation where appropriate, and monitoring all programs funded under Title III of the Older Americans Act (as amended, through a grant by the State of New Jersey, Department of Health and Senior Services, Division of Senior Affairs).
Programs funded under the Act provide supportive services for information and assistance, outreach, benefits screening, legal assistance, congregate meals home-delivered meals, nutrition education and counseling, transportation, certified home health aides, housekeeping, senior centers, Adult Protective Services, residential maintenance, telephone reassurance, friendly visiting, child care/Grandparent raising grandchildren, physical health, physical fitness, education and socialization/recreation. The Office on Aging also sponsors special events.
In order to reach out to as many older citizens as possible, the Office on Aging publishes a newsletter with a distribution of 9,000 newsletters.
