Provides information and referral. Administers County and State funds for prevention and treatment projects and programs, including the municipal Alliances to Prevent Alcoholism and Drug Abuse. Operates the County's Intoxicated Driver Resource Center (IDRC). Coordinates planning, monitoring and advocacy activities.
Days and Hours: Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Services Provided: Provides information and referral services. Administers County and State funds for alcoholism and drug abuse prevention and treatment projects and programs, including the municipal Alliances to Prevent Alcoholism and Drug Abuse. Coordinates planning for treatment and prevention services including the development and distribution of the "Annual County Comprehensive Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Plan"; monitors funded projects and programs; disseminates the "Guide to Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Services in Monmouth County"; operates the County's Intoxicated Driver Resource Center (IDRC) for persons convicted of an alcohol/drug-related motor vehicle or boating offense (which includes education, screening and monitoring of convicted offenders.
Method of Application: Contact the office by telephone or in person. Applications: issued in the Spring of each year for services to be provided during the upcoming calendar year. Applications are reviewed by the Board of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services which submits recommendations regarding same to the Board of Chosen Freeholders for consideration and approval. Administered funds are provided only to State-licensed treatment providers and to prevention providers who meet County policy requirements.

Volunteer: Yes. Members of the Board of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services are volunteers appointed by the Board of Chosen Freeholder for a term of three years. The Board serves in an advisory capacity to the Board of Chosen Freeholder on the development and implementation of the treatment and prevention services for alcoholism and drug abuse in Monmouth County. The Board has sixteen (16) voting members. It meets bi-monthly and operates under Freeholder-approved By-Laws; the public is encouraged to attend Board meetings.
