WIB aims to help people with disabilities find a job
Employers urged to register, attend April 30 event in Eatontown

FREEHOLD – The Monmouth County Workforce Investment Board (WIB) is sponsoring the second annual Job Fair and Resource Expo for People with Disabilities. The event is from 9 a.m. to noon on April 30, at the Center for Vocational Rehabilitation, 15 Meridian Way, Eatontown.

Nearly one in every five Americans has some sort of disability. Studies indicate that employees with disabilities rate average or above average in performance, attendance and job safety. They are also more likely to stay in jobs longer, thereby reducing the expense associated with turnover.   Businesses may be eligible for tax incentives for hiring individuals with disabilities.

The event is planned by the WIB’s Services to People with Disabilities Committee, dedicated to identifying barriers to employment and educating employers regarding the advantages of hiring people with disabilities.

“This job fair provides an opportunity for employers and job seekers alike to recognize possibilities,” Freeholder Barbara J. McMorrow said. “I support the WIB’s commitment to empowering all of our citizens to reach their full potential.”

There is no cost to attend. Employers are welcome and must register to participate. For table reservations, call (732) 493-5900 x 245. For more information, call (732) 544-1800.
