Sen. Beck to be keynote speaker
at Fifth Wednesday luncheon April 30
FREEHOLD – Sen. Jennifer Beck will be the keynote speaker at the county’s Fifth Wednesday Squire’s Luncheon at noon April 30 at Branches, 123 Monmouth Rd., West Long Branch.
Beck, who represents the 12th Legislative District, will talk about her efforts in Trenton to reform state government and control spending. Her topics will include a discussion about the controversial state budget and what she believes could be done to rein in state spending.
“Sen. Beck is a leader of the efforts to reverse the damage done by runaway spending,” said Bea Duffy, director of the county’s Department of Economic Development & Tourism. “She has extensive government experience and exhibits all the traits of a dedicated and talented representative. I look forward to hearing what she has to say.”
Fifth Wednesday is Monmouth County’s premiere gathering of business, government and civic leaders. Hosted by the Monmouth County Department of Economic Development & Tourism, it is the only venue where attendees can meet and conduct business in a casual atmosphere, Duffy said.
Beck is a former Assemblywoman who also served as a Red Bank councilwoman. She has a master’s degree in government administration from the University of Pennsylvania, and is known to be a strong advocate in a sometimes unreceptive political environment, Duffy said.
“She has gained the respect of friends and opponents and has proved to be an effective representative for Monmouth County and the state,” Duffy said. “We’re very proud to have her address our forum.”
Fifth Wednesday Squire’s Luncheon is so named because it is held on every fifth Wednesday. Tickets are $30 and include a choice of chicken francaise or broiled tilapia. To reserve a seat or learn more, please contact the Department of Economic Development & Tourism at (732) 431-7470, or send an e-mail to the Department at jwhitehe@visitmonmouth.com.
