Explore more in Monmouth County!FREEHOLD, NJ – Helping visitors find out about Monmouth County just got a whole lot easier with a redesigned and re-launched tourism section of the Monmouth County Web site at www.visitmonmouth.com.

“The Web site’s new tourism look has improved organization that better highlights places to stay, things to do, outdoor activities and local history,” said Freeholder John D’Amico, liaison to the county’s Department of Economic and Workforce Development/Tourism. “The tourism upgrade supports our local economy by helping residents and visitors easily discover all of the activities and attractions in Monmouth County and see why this is the place they want to be.”

The tourism home page offers a list of quick picks with direct links to the County’s Travel Guide, event calendar and beaches list.

On the site’s interior pages, you will find information about live theater and concert venues, museums, historic sites, lighthouses, hotels, motels, B&Bs, campgrounds, wineries, horse farms, farmers’ markets, boardwalks, parks, golf courses, shopping venues, racetracks for cars and horses, charter fishing boats, antiques centers, marinas and much more.

Tourism is a $1.8 billion dollar industry in Monmouth County that employs more than 22,000 people.

“This upgrade supports Monmouth County as the place to be this summer as well as year round,” said Freeholder Deputy Director Robert D. Clifton, who oversees the county’s technology services area and Department of Public Information. “We are always looking at ways to maximize the county’s Web site and to make it a more useful tool for residents. This project allows us to advance our tourism marketing by encouraging visitors through technology.”

The county tourism office is responsible for marketing Monmouth County as a travel destination for vacationers, and it also provides support for the businesses that provide goods and services to the day-trippers, weekenders and weeklong vacationers.

“The county’s tourism Web site is the best single resource for all county events and activities,” Eastern Monmouth Area Chamber of Commerce President Lynda Rose said. “Local businesses appreciate the county’s efforts to draw visitors to our area. This coordinated effort promotes tourism from the sidewalks to the boardwalks and everything in between.”

The tourism calendar feature now figures prominently on the site. In addition to calling out upcoming events, visitors can look months ahead to plan their trip to Monmouth County.
