Eight youth rate "Excellent" and move to
June 12 event at Rutgers
FREEHOLD, NJ – Eight teenagers of the Monmouth County 4-H Association will participate in the 2010 State 4-H Public Presentations Program at 10 a.m. on June 12 at the Rutgers University - Cook/Douglass Campus at Hickman Hall in New Brunswick.
The local 4-H members are Shannon Bley, Howell; Carly Eidman, Tinton Falls; Matthew Hills, Jackson; Amanda Keynton, Wall; Kayla Kramer, Neptune; Samantha Martin, Eatontown; Ian Rios, Port Monmouth; and Paul Yoncak, Freehold.
To qualify for the state 4-H event, each of the teens received an excellent rating at their County 4-H Public Presentation Contest earlier this spring.
The state event offers qualified 4-H members an advanced public speaking experience and encourages them to utilize their organizational and speaking skills to assist younger 4-H members in the county to further their development of public speaking skills.
Ribbons and Outstanding Presentation Awards will be awarded at approximately 1:30 p.m. at the event that is expected to draw 4-H members from throughout New Jersey. Judging will be done by educators, 4-H volunteers, faculty and staff.
The 4-H Youth Development Program is part of Rutgers New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station, Cooperative Extension. 4-H educational programs are offered to all youth, grades K-13, on an age-appropriate basis, without regard to race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, or disability.
