Freeholders begin community meeting schedule
Meetings in community locations begin Thursday
SEA BRIGHT, NJ – The Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders will begin its annual community meeting schedule on Thursday, March 25 at its 7 p.m. regular meeting in the Sea Bright Municipal Building, 1167 Ocean Ave.
A rotating schedule will take the Board of Freeholders' regular evening meetings to the communities of Colts Neck, Holmdel, Keyport, Matawan, Sea Bright, Spring Lake and Upper Freehold from now until September. These meetings will be held on the fourth Thursday of the month. On dates that the Board meets in those communities, the workshop meetings will be held at 1 p.m. in Freehold.
"One of the best things the Board did years ago was to take the Board of Chosen Freeholders' meetings on the road so that county government is more accessible to the people it serves," Freeholder Director Lillian G. Burry said. "It encourages participation by many more residents."
According to James Gray, clerk to the freeholder board, the meeting rotation is designed to cover all regions of the county and provide opportunities for residents to attend meetings closer to home or work.
Typically, the Board of Chosen Freeholders meets on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month. Workshop meetings are held in the afternoon and all regular meetings will be held at 7 p.m. With the exception of the community meetings, the Board meets in the Hall of Records at One East Main Street, Freehold.
