Freeholders featured on county’s TV show
Third season kicks off with a look ahead and a look back

FREEHOLD – “Monmouth In Focus,” the county’s monthly televised program, is on the air this February with a look at the county’s 2010 Organization Day that took place in January.

“The third season of Monmouth in Focus begins with at a look at what residents can expect from the Board of Chosen Freeholders this year,” Freeholder Director Lillian G. Burry said. “People can tune in to find out about some of the formalities of Organization Day and to hear about the challenges and opportunities involved in planning and managing a county that is home to more than 660,000 people.

“The show includes interviews with each of the freeholders speaking about county government priorities,” Burry added. “This year, the elected five-member freeholder board will continue to look at ways to efficiently and effectively deliver county services and programs to our residents and businesses. We need to do what is right and best for the county now and in the future.”

The Organization Day show also includes remarks from the individual freeholder speeches and parting remarks from former county elected officials Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno, county sheriff from 2008 to 2009, and Barbara J. McMorrow, county freeholder from 2007 to 2009.

The show is a half-hour program. Each show features a different aspect of county government. “Monmouth In Focus” shows have already looked at the county library system, Park System, Sheriff’s Office, Human Services, Reclamation Center, bridges and roads and Mosquito Extermination Commission. All of the shows may be viewed on the county’s Web site at www.visitmonmouth.com.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to bring the county’s services directly into the homes of our residents,” Freeholder Robert D. Clifton said. “Along with the county’s news-oriented Web site, e-mail subscription options and the Facebook and Twitter postings, the county is continuing its efforts to communicate consistently with residents about county services.”

Monmouth In Focus airs on both the Comcast and Cablevison local access channels, Brookdale Television and municipal public access channels in Howell, Freehold Township, Long Branch, Middletown, Millstone and Ocean Township.  Check with your local access provider for the dates and times.
