Public meeting scheduled on Allentown Dam, bridge
Two alternatives to be presented on March 18

FREEHOLD – A public meeting has been scheduled later this month to present project needs and reconstruction alternatives for the reconstruction of the Allentown Dam and the county bridge U-12, which carries Route 524, or Main Street, over Doctor’s Creek in Allentown.

The presentation will include exhibits of deficiencies of the dam and the bridge and the proposed reconstruction with two alternatives for maintenance and protection of traffic. The alternatives include: closing Main Street and providing a detour route, or maintaining traffic on Main Street with a temporary road and structure.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. March 18 at the Allentown High School auditorium, 27 High St., Allentown.

The meeting is being conducted to inform project stakeholders including the general public, the governing bodies of Allentown and Upper Freehold Township, emergency service providers, the U.S. Postal Service and the Board of Education.

The public is invited to attend and encouraged to comment on the project.
