Route 537 at Gravel Hill Road intersection options
to be available for review Dec. 9 from 4-7 p.m.
Public comment on realignment proposals is encouraged
FREEHOLD TWP, NJ – Three possible designs to realign Route 537 and improve the intersection at Gravel Hill Road will be available for inspection and comment from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 9 at the Freehold Township Municipal Buildings, Room 114, One Municipal Plaza.
This event will be conducted in an “open house” format where display boards will provide specific information about the three preliminary, concept designs for improvements to the Route 537 and the Gravel Hill Road intersection. Residents, local officials and the business community are encouraged to review each concept, consider the impacts of each and indicate which option they prefer to improve these roads.
Representatives from the Monmouth County Division of Engineering will be on hand to answer questions and to explain the project. The three-hour session will assist in establishing a plan that will help the county and the township – both individually and from a regional planning perspective – address safety issues, current and future traffic volume as well as drainage issues.
The proposed concept plans provide for safety measures and capacity improvements by installing a new traffic signal, turn lanes and through lanes on County Route 537 at Gravel Hill Road and a widening of Route 537 in that area.
After the Dec. 9 session, all three options will posted on the Public Works and Engineering page of the county Web site at
www.visitmonmouth.com. From the county home page, click on the link to the Department and then click on the Engineering Division to access the improvement options.
For those unable to attend and provide comment in person, the county will accept written comments through Jan. 31, 2010. County residents are encouraged to actively participate by providing comments at the meeting, by mail, or by e-mail.
