November calendar has a bounty of activities
Monmouth County offers plenty to do, to see and to enjoy
FREEHOLD – November need not be your signal to begin hibernating.
The beach season may be over, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy a leisurely beach or boardwalk stroll. Bundle up in your favorite sweater or jacket because there are many wonderful fall activities in Monmouth County that are well worth the effort.
Indoors or out, Monmouth County in the fall months is where active people of all ages explore nature, the arts, food and the holiday spirit. You can find all the details and much more by exploring the county’s Calendar of Events on the Monmouth County Web site at www.visitmonmouth.com.
If surfing the Web is not for you, call 1-800-523-2587 to have an events calendar mailed to you within 24 hours. Or, stop by the Monmouth County Division of Economic Development and Tourism at 1 E. Main St., Freehold, to browse through the brochure racks.

Here’s a taste of November to remember:
Historic Allaire Village at Allaire State Park in Wall kicks things off with a circa 1830s Women’s Suffrage Movement march on Nov. 1. Remember that Veterans Day is Nov. 11 when the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial will hold a service at its Holmdel location at Garden State Parkway Exit 116.
The Highland’s Farmer’s Market will be held on Nov. 7 and close up for the year, but the Red Bank Farmer’s Market will continue each Sunday through Nov. 22.
Holiday Events Galore
November also marks the official launch of the holiday season, debuting with Thanksgiving Nov. 26. Historic Allaire Village covers that, too, with a 19th century Thanksgiving on Nov. 22. Asbury Park will be celebrating First Saturday on Nov. 7 with sidewalk sales and dining.
Santa will begin his public relations push Nov. 6 through Nov. 8 with a stocking stuffer sale at Historic Allaire Village. Meanwhile, Brookdale Community College’s Lincroft campus is offering “Festive Feasts and Culinary Creations” Nov. 22 through Jan. 3, a glittering exhibition of Christmas trees by garden clubs and an ever-expanding model railroad display.
Santa’s Express rides the rails between Little Silver and Red Bank Nov. 27, the same day Red Bank hosts its annual Holiday Express Concert and Town Lighting. “Holiday Harmonies,” pictures with Santa and classic horse and carriage rides are there Nov. 28. Long Branch’s Pier Village Holiday Spectacular features a menorah lighting, carriage rides and Santa himself.
Spring Lake brings hayrides, Santa’s workshop and a miniature train village on Nov. 28. The next night, Bradley Beach holds tree lighting with entertainment and refreshments.
