Sunday is Walnford Day
Step back in time at one of the county's western gems

UPPER FREEHOLD, NJ - Feel the rumble of the gristmill as it grinds corn into meal, hear a spinning wheel twist wool fibers into wool and watch a blacksmith hammer and bend iron into a household tool at Historic Walnford Day from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 4.
This hands-on sensory experience is set for all ages at the Walnford Day celebration at county's Crosswicks Creek Park. Planned activities include an archaeological dig, a visual scavenger hunt, mill model making, quill pen calligraphy and wagon rides. You can also tour the fabulous Waln House and see the "Sit Thee Down" chair exhibit. There will be flute and harpsichord duets through out the day as well. Admission is free, and the fun is never-ending!
Historic Walnford is located in Upper Freehold just miles from Allentown. Directions are as follows: take State Highway 9, 79, or 34 to County Route 537 west to Rt. 539 in Upper Freehold. Turn right onto Rt. 539 north (Forked River Rd), then left onto Burlington Path Rd. Turn right onto Holmes Mills Rd. and then left onto Walnford Rd., which leads directly into the park.
