Call to Service continues with Sept. 17 event
McMorrow invites residents to be part of the process

FREEHOLD – You can take your first step in becoming part of Monmouth County government by attending the County’s Call to Service Day from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 17 at the county’s Agricultural Building, 4000 Kozloski Rd.

“This event is an introduction to county government and an open house for county councils, boards and commissions to meet residents and let them know about the important work that they do,” Freeholder Director Barbara J. McMorrow said. “Board members will be on hand to speak with attendees and learn how they can get involved to make Monmouth County an even better place to live.”

Monmouth County’s Call to Service focuses on getting residents involved in their county government with the goal of developing an environment that will cultivate a community of leaders.

“It is another step forward in Monmouth County’s journey toward good government,” McMorrow said. “We are building on last year’s call for citizens to participate on county boards. Our existing online application form has provided a talent bank of interested residents who want to volunteer their time and share their expertise. This event provides residents a unique opportunity to meet current board members and consider becoming part of the our government process.”

All county councils, boards and commissions have been invited to attend the event, including: Advisory Council – Office on Aging, Environmental Council, Board of Health, Historical Commission, Human Services Advisory Council, Library Commission, Mental Health Board, Mosquito Extermination Commission, Planning Board, Board of Recreation Commissioners, Senior Citizen and Disabled Resident Transportation Advisory Committee, Solid Waste Advisory Council, Workforce Investment Board and the Youth Services Commission.  A complete list of county Boards and Commissions is available on the county Web site at www.visitmonmouth.com

This event is Monmouth County’s part of a statewide effort and call to service led by the Citizens’ Campaign, a non-partisan organization that encourages innovative constructive government solutions and recruits and educates citizen leaders.
