Tourist welcome center opens this weekend
Parkway rest area expands to seven day schedule
WALL – Memorial Day weekend at the Jersey Shore means that Monmouth County is open for business. As a result, the state tourism welcome center located at the Garden State Parkway’s Monmouth Service Area will be open and staffed from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week from now through Labor Day, Sept. 7.
“This is our busy season,” said Jeanne DeYoung, Monmouth County tourism director. “This welcome center is one more way that we can reach visitors. The expanded summer hours will provide travelers with answers to questions about what to do and see at the Jersey Shore!”
The welcome center will be staffed by HMS Host personnel who will be able to answer visitor questions about statewide events, attractions, lodging and more.
“Visitors and residents can always stop by the Parkway’s Monmouth Service Area to pick up literature any time of day,” DeYoung said. “They can also get tourism information before they leave home by taking a look at the county Web site at www.visitmonmouth.com.”
The Monmouth Service Area is located between Garden State Parkway exits 98 and 100 about 4 miles south of the Asbury Park toll plaza.
The Monmouth County Department of Economic Development & Tourism has an online Calendar of Events that is updated daily. It’s a valuable resource that lists events throughout the county. Go to www.visitmonmouth.com and navigate to the Tourism section. Or, call 1-800-523-2587 to have a package of tourism information mailed to you.
