Foster parents praised by freeholders
FREEHOLD – The Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders has proclaimed the month of May 2009 as “Foster Parents Month” as a way to honor and celebrate the work of foster parents who see that the physical, mental, emotional, educational and medical needs of needy children are met.
“There are 345 licensed foster homes in Monmouth County for children who are in dire need of nurturing due to having been abandoned, neglected or abused,” said Freeholder Amy A. Mallet, liaison to the county’s Department of Human Services. “Foster parents and families provide a bridge for children who are unable to live with their biological families and who need a caring and compassionate home environment that promotes healthy growth and development.”
“Foster Parents Month in Monmouth County calls upon all our citizens to recognize adults who work devotedly and unselfishly to nurture and protect children in need,” Mallet said.
