Moving Monmouth County forward
Transportation summit to focus on U.S. recovery and reinvestment act
WEST LONG BRANCH – Monmouth County’s 6th annual Transportation Summit will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5, in the Young Auditorium of Bey Hall at Monmouth University, 400 Cedar Ave.
“These challenging economic times have provided Monmouth County with some unique opportunities,” Freeholder Deputy Director John D’Amico said. “The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) will fund a number of new transportation projects that will impact county residents. It is important that municipal officials and residents are aware of how the funding is being spent and what projects may be under construction soon.”
The Monmouth County Transportation Council, an advisory group to the Monmouth County Planning Board, presents the latest information about transportation projects planned and under way in the county to residents and local officials.
Attendees will learn first-hand how the recent federal stimulus money, part of ARRA, will benefit Monmouth County projects and see a presentation about the proposed Access to the Region’s Core Tunnel.
In addition to Freeholder D’Amico, speakers will include:
- Assemblyman John S. Wisniewski, Deputy Assembly Speaker and Chairman of the State Assembly Transportation, Public Works, and Independent Authorities Committee
- Alan Weinberg, Senior Director of Real Estate and Public Affairs for NJ Transit
- Joseph M. Ettore, Monmouth County Engineer
