FREEHOLD – The Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders, in partnership with the Urban Institute at Monmouth University and the Monmouth County Cool Cities Partnership, invite the public to attend a “Green Team” training session on how to create a climate action plan.

 

Volunteers are organizing Green Teams that empower people to help the environment by becoming more energy efficient through the reduction of waste and improved reuse and recycling. To learn more, visit the Monmouth County Agriculture Building on Saturday morning, March 21.

 

“This has been great follow-up to our successful series of Environmental Luncheons, which focused attention on a variety of ideas and methods of reducing our carbon footprint by preserving our natural resources, reducing energy consumption and utilizing renewable energy sources,” Freeholder Director Barbara J. McMorrow said. “Anyone with concerns about the environment should attend.

 

“Together with the Monmouth County Cool Cities Partnership, this is the second time we are offering Green Team training,” McMorrow added. “By forming a Green Team, citizens can become empowered to do their part to protect the environment. Each individual’s actions will become a part of a greater movement toward sustainability.”

 

The county Agriculture Building is located at 4000 Kozloski Rd., Freehold Township. “Green Team” training will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30p.m., and will feature a presentation by Stockton College’s Patrick Hossay, professor of political science, sustainability and environmental policy.

 

“By taking action against global warming and its negative effects on our environment we can make a difference,” Freeholder John D’Amico said.
