Learn backyard composting
Residents can reduce waste and improve soil
 
FREEHOLD – The Monmouth County Planning Board has announced its spring 2009 Backyard Composting schedule for Monmouth County residents. The advance registration sessions to learn how to reduce yard and household waste and to improve your soil are as follows: 
  • Saturday, April 4 at 10 a.m. – Deep Cut Gardens, 352 Red Hill Rd, Middletown
  • Saturday, April 18 at 10 a.m. – Wagner Farm Sports Complex, Woodville and Baird Roads, Millstone
  • Sunday, April 26 at 10 a.m. – Deep Cut Gardens, 352 Red Hill Rd, Middletown
  • Thursday, April 30 at 7 p.m. – West Park Recreation Center, 615 Deal Road, Ocean Twp.

There is no charge to attend the workshops, but space is limited and advance registration is required. Register by calling 732-431-7460 or by downloading the registration form from www.visitmonmouth.com.

 
Participants may purchase a composting bin at the session. A Handy Composter is $10 and the Earth Machine is $25.
