The Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders report another
successful summer season
FREEHOLD, NJ – The Monmouth County
Board of Chosen Freeholders, local civic leaders and County Tourism officials are
happy to announce the success of another summer season. The leaders provided a
review of the 2018 summer and previewed events coming to the County this fall.
"Monmouth County saw record
attendance at many special events,” said Freeholder Thomas A. Arnone, liaison
to the County’s Department of Public Information and Tourism. “Despite the
increased rainfall this summer, people continued to enjoy our many attractions,
and our downtown businesses, restaurants and hotels benefitted.”
Summer
2018 was the tenth hottest on record since 1895, with rain occurring 11 out of
16 weekends.
The 2018
season total beach badge sales for Monmouth County were more than $19 million –
which is about on par with last year. $2.3 million of that is from Asbury Park
beach badge sales alone, with nearly a five percent increase over last year.
“Monmouth
County is a four-season destination that hosts more than six million visitors
each year, and we are excited to welcome people of all ages to our upcoming
events,” added Freeholder Arnone.
Major
events scheduled for this month include:
- Long Branch Pier Fest – Oct. 7
- Belmar Oktoberfest – Oct. 7
- Thompson Park Day – Oct. 14
- Haunted Allaire – Oct. 19
