Statement: Belmar Beaches are open for Business

“Some media outlets have erroneously reported that all Belmar beaches are closed due to water sample results exceeding state standards for bacteria.

The Monmouth County Health Department, acting as agents of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP), found high levels of bacteria at the L Street Beach on Shark River only during the course of sampling, making it unsafe for swimming and other water recreational activities until further notice.

County Health officials will continue to test the water and will inform the public when L Street Beach is reopened for swimming and recreational use.”
