Work Continues on Hubbard Avenue
Motorists are encouraged to plan alternate routes

MIDDLETOWN, NJ – Motorists are encouraged to plan an alternate route as utility work continues on Hubbard Avenue between West Front Street (County Route 10) and Navesink River Road (County Route 12A).

Today, Monmouth County engineers added additional signage to the project area in advance of the detour. This was done to provide as many travel options as possible to help motorists avoid the congested location.

New Jersey Natural Gas Company is replacing an existing six-inch steel gas distribution main with a new eight-inch plastic gas main. The work being done by New Jersey Natural Gas Company comes on the heels of work that has been completed by the American Water Company

“Motorists in the area have experienced an increase in congestion and traffic delays due to the ongoing utility company work and should plan alternate routes whenever possible,” said Freeholder Thomas A. Arnone, liaison to the County’s Department of Public Works and Engineering. “The patience of the public is appreciated as the project continues for the next few weeks.”

Hubbard Avenue is being detoured from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday. Weather permitting, the work is anticipated to be completed by the end of August.

The County plans to resurface the road once all of the utility work is completed.
