Freeholder Arnone honored for service on
Transportation Planning Board

NEWARK, NJ – Monmouth County Freeholder Thomas Arnone was recognized for his ongoing service on the Board of Trustees of the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA) at the agency’s annual meeting on Monday, Jan. 9.

“I’m honored to receive this recognition,” said Freeholder Arnone, who joined the NJTPA Board in 2011. “Funding from the NJTPA has helped Monmouth County make its infrastructure safer and more efficient.”

“With Freeholder Arnone’s support, Monmouth County has advanced over $5 million in safety projects and more than $69 million in local bridge and roadway projects, including several large and very complicated bridge projects,” NTJPA Executive Director Mary K. Murphy said.

These federally funded, County-led improvements include such projects as construction of the West Front Street Bridge between Middletown and Red Bank, the Sunset Avenue Bridge between Asbury Park and Ocean Township, and the Amboy Avenue Bridge between Aberdeen and Keyport.

NJTPA Chairman Peter Palmer, Somerset County Freeholder Director, joined Executive Director Murphy in presenting Freeholder Arnone with his service award. “Freeholder Arnone has made significant contributions not just to Monmouth County, but to the entire NJTPA region,” Murphy said.
