Ocean Avenue repaving moves to Spring Lake
Project on schedule for completion before Memorial Day Weekend

SPRING LAKE, NJ – Repaving work on Ocean Avenue has moved to Spring Lake. Weather permitting, milling on Ocean Avenue began this morning and will continue through the rest of the week. The resurfacing of Ocean Avenue in Spring Lake is set to be completed by Friday, May 6, weather permitting.

The milling and paving of Ocean Avenue will take place between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, with no work performed on weekends.

Work is now complete in Bradley Beach, Avon-by-the-Sea, and Belmar. After Spring Lake is complete, the repaving project moves to Sea Girt. The milling and paving of Ocean Avenue began on April 18.

“Coordination between the County and each of the shore communities has been phenomenal,” said Freeholder Director Thomas A. Arnone, liaison to Public Work and Engineering. “The contractor has kept this important project on schedule. The completion date for repaving Ocean Avenue from Bradley Beach to Sea Girt remains before Memorial Day weekend.”

The $2.28 million resurfacing project includes milling, repaving and restriping of Ocean Avenue and constructing sidewalk curb ramps.

In addition to closing sections of Ocean Avenue, local roads within a block of Ocean Avenue are being closed temporarily for brief periods. Municipal police are present and signs are posted to detour local traffic, ensure safety and avoid congestion. Local residents continue to have access to their homes and mail deliveries are proceeding uninterrupted.

“The communication and teamwork between all parties has limited the inconvenience to drivers, homeowners and business owners,” said Deputy Freeholder Director Serena DiMaso. “Completion of the project prior to the kickoff of the traditional summer season is critical and each of the towns will benefit from the on-schedule refurbishing of Ocean Avenue.”

The project’s contractor is the Stavola Contracting Company based in Tinton Falls. Monmouth County Department of Public Works and Engineering is overseeing the logistics of the project.
