Freeholders stress importance of saving for retirement

Dedicate Oct. 18-24 as ‘Save for Retirement Week’

FREEHOLD, NJ –The Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders has declared the week of Oct. 18 to 24 as “Save for Retirement Week” in Monmouth County.

“Everyone’s needs are different, but the need to save for retirement is the same,” said Freeholder Director Gary J. Rich, Sr. “The goal of ‘Save for Retirement Week’ is to educate employees about the growing importance of saving for retirement and encourage everyone to start saving today. It is never too early or too late to start saving!”

Monmouth County engaged the services of Centurion Group, as a co-fiduciary, to work with Nationwide, the County’s employer-sponsored retirement plan provider, to reduce plan fees and to provide higher rated investment options for the County’s 457 deferred compensation plan.

A certificate of recognition was present to Centurion Group representatives Barbara Pippin, Vice President/Client Management of the Philadelphia Office, Joseph E. Bartnicki, PRP, Executive Vice President/Partner of the New Jersey Office, and Traci Stearns of Nationwide at the Freeholder workshop meeting on Oct. 22.

First established in 2006 by the United States Senate, National Save for Retirement Week was instituted as a way to bring attention to the public about retirement savings and to encourage employees to participate in their employer-sponsored retirement plans.
