Howell intersection to close for paving

Intersection of Squankum-Yellowbrook Road and West Farms Road

HOWELL, NJ – On or about Monday, Aug. 10, the intersection on Squankum-Yellowbrook Road (CR 524A) and West Farms Road will be closed for two days for milling and paving.

On Monday, Aug. 10 and Tuesday, Aug. 11, the intersection will be open to local traffic only up to the point of the closure. All other motorists should follow the posted detours.

Weather permitting, the work is expected to be substantially completed by early September. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures in the area as work is completed.

“This project is the result of studies that evaluated traffic patterns in the area,” said Freeholder Thomas A. Arnone, liaison to the County’s Department of Public Works and Engineering. “The goal is to improve operations and overall safety of the traveling public in the area.”

The improvements will include the installation of a flashing beacon traffic signal, construction of drainage facilities, pavement of the road surface and a pedestrian sidewalk.

The work is being performed by Earle Asphalt Company of Farmingdale. The cost of construction is $277,513. The project is being federally funded.

In total, the County maintains of approximately 1,000 lane miles of roads, 980 bridges and culverts and 250 traffic signals and beacons.
