Five lucky fairgoers get at home help

Monmouth County Fair winners win healthy home buckets

FREEHOLD, NJ – Last week, all Monmouth County Fair attendees went home winners after attending the five day event that topped-off with spectacular weather.

Five lucky fairgoers stopped by the Monmouth County government tent and went home bigger winners after being the lucky winners of healthy home buckets supplied by the Health Department.

69,000 people attended the 41st annual Fair and tasted fair food, rode the rides, explored the 4-H animal exhibits and touched a truck, but more than a 1,000 fairgoers also took the time to stop by the Monmouth County Government booth, sign up for a County email subscription and enter a free drawing for a healthy home bucket.

“Every year, Monmouth County showcases our great quality of life at the Monmouth County Fair,” Freeholder Director Gary J. Rich, Sr. said. “As part of the County’s ongoing public information campaign, we let people know about the many services we provide for them all year long.”

“This year we held a free drawing as a thank you to everyone who stopped by to see the Touch-A-Truck, Sheriff’s Office, library, health, Brookdale, mosquito control and tourism display,” said Freeholder Thomas A. Arnone, liaison to the Department of Public Information & Tourism. “People who entered the free drawing really won twice, because they will also receive the County’s news and information email subscription.”

Anyone who didn’t make it to the Fair and would like to have a County email subscription can sign-up by visiting the Monmouth County website at www.visitmonmouth.com.

“The County Health Department provided the items for the free drawing that are both exciting and practical,” said Freeholder John P. Curley, liaison to the Health Department. “The staff has been actively promoting ways to help residents make their homes clean and healthy places to live. These buckets provide people with the tools to make that happen.”

Each night, one winner was selected for the healthy home bucket.

The healthy home bucket included items such as a smoke and carbon monoxide alarm, a healthy home guide and cleaning supplies. If you would like to know how to make your home healthier, check out information from the national Centers for Disease Control at www.cdc.gov/healthyhomes.

The winners of the free drawing were notified by email and made arrangements to pick-up their prizes this week from the Department of Public Information and Tourism at 3 East Main St. in the Hall of Records Annex in Freehold Borough.
