County seeks local input on transportation issues
NJTPA, county hosting Oct. 27 workshop at Brookdale Community College
LINCROFT – Monmouth County officials and the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA) invite the public to attend a regional transportation visioning workshop scheduled at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27, at Brookdale Community College, 765 Newman Springs Rd.
“Transportation is critical to the future of Monmouth County,” said Freeholder William C. Barham, who represents the county on the NJTPA Board of Trustees. “We want to hear what our municipalities have to say about land use and transportation investment in the county, because the decisions we make today will determine the future of our towns, our county and the larger region.”
The workshop is part of the development of the NJTPA’s Regional Transportation Plan 2035. At the workshop, participants will engage in an interactive visioning exercise to express their preferences on land use and transportation investment over the next 25 years. It also will feature a discussion of the interaction between land use and transportation and consider the potential effects of economic growth, technological advances, energy prices and other forces on the region’s future.
Anyone interested in learning more about the plan and sharing their thoughts on the region’s future can visit
www.njtpa.org. Comments also can be left via voice mail at (800) 641-6079.
The NJTPA conducts regional transportation planning and authorizes federal transportation investment in 13 counties in northern and central New Jersey, including Monmouth County.
The NJTPA will draw on all public input received in developing the federally required long-range transportation plan for the 13 counties in the NJTPA region. All projects in the region that receive federal funding must have their origin in and be consistent with the plan.
The workshop is open to the public, but seating is limited. To register, contact Scott Giering of Howard/Stein-Hudson Associates, at
sgiering@hshassoc.com or (917) 339-0488.
