March madness in Monmouth

Tourism calendar full of activities all month long

 

FREEHOLD, NJ – The list of activities in Monmouth County this March includes parades, plays and performances, so there’s sure to be a bit of March madness for you to enjoy. 

The first weekend in March, enjoy Ocean Grove’s “Girls Getaway Weekend” from Feb. 27 to March 1 and Brookdale Community College hosts the 2015 E. Murray Todd Half Marathon on March 1.

There’s nothing like a parade to usher in the month, and thanks to the St. Patrick’s Day celebration in Belmar that is exactly what you can be part of on Sunday, March 1. Asbury Park and Rumson will host St. Patrick’s Day Parades on March 8 and Highlands keeps the spirit alive with their annual St. Patrick’s Day Parades on March 21. 

If you are looking for St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, the County’s tourism calendar lists many of the best:
  • Irish Folk Music with “Three Pints Shy” will be presented at the Allaire Chapel at Historic Allaire Village on March 7.
  • The Nerds St. Patrick’s Day Party is at iPlay America on March 13.
  • St. Patrick’s Day in the 1830s will be celebrated at Historic Allaire Village on March 15.
  • Savor the Arts of Ireland! Enjoy the weekend long event at the Middletown Arts Center from March 20 through 22.
On March 8 from noon to 4:30 p.m., head over to Belmar for their restaurant tour and sample the fine cuisine of local Belmar restaurants and on March 22 don’t miss Bradley Beach Restaurant Tour from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Count Basie hosts several concerts and unique shows this month:
  • On March 1, Count Basie presents the Count Basie Orchestra with the New York Voices.
  • Jazz pianist and vocalist Diana Krall performs on March 2.
  • One Night of Queen performed by Gary Mullen and The Works on March 3.
  • Bring the kids to Sing-A-Long Frozen on March 7.
  • Michael Bolton will perform on March 8.
  • Don’t miss An Evening with Spirit with James Van Praagh on March 19.
  • Fifth Harmony: The Reflection Tour comes to the theater on March 20.
  • Catch “Jesus Christ Superstar” on March 27, 28 and 29.
  • The African Children’s Choir will perform on March 31.

Other theater and concert performances in March include:

  • Algonquin Arts presents “The Pirates of Penzance” on March 1 and “World’s Best Short Films” on March 7.
  • At iPlay America, hip-hop duo Kalin & Myles on March 14, country rock band Parmalee on March 19 and British band Rixton on March 22.
  • Pollak Theatre at Monmouth University presents “Girls Night: The Musical” on March 7, “Romeo & Juliet” on March 22 and “Miss Nelson is Missing” on March 26.

The annual Red Bank Wedding Walk will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on March 22 at the Oyster Point Hotel. The event offers one-stop shopping for all wedding needs.

End the month at the Keansburg Amusements annual Easter Egg Hunt on March 29 at 1 p.m.
