County Clerk to test countywide reporting in early 2015

FREEHOLD, NJ – Monmouth County Clerk M. Claire French confirmed today that the results from four towns that participated in Tuesday’s local school elections were tabulated and posted to the County’s website within an hour of the poll closings.

The Dec. 9 ballot questions involved three local school district questions:

  • Freehold Borough – Question defeated 370 to 241 votes
  • Ocean Township School District (Loch Arbor and Ocean Township) – Question approved 1,284 votes to 717 votes
  • West Long Branch – Question defeated 285 votes to 223 votes

The election results can be found at www.visitmonmouth.com and clicking on “December School Election Results” in the Popular Links section.

“This week’s election was the first use of our election equipment and software since the November general election,” said Mrs. French. “Everything worked exactly as it should for all 36 of the voting districts that were involved.”

County Clerk French will be scheduling a full test of the County’s election equipment and software with a mock election in early 2015.

“All 53 Monmouth County municipal clerks will be invited to participate and test our equipment so that we can provide timely election results to our citizens,” said French. “We are continuing to work with our vendor, Dominion Voting System, and our IT Department to identify any remaining issues that may be related to the delay that occurred this past November.”

The unofficial Nov. 4 election results were posted to the County’s website at 6 a.m. on Nov. 5.

The County’s Information Technology Department will provide a support role in the upcoming test election. IT Director John Zawadzki will work directly with Dominion Voting Systems to ensure that the cartridges, laptops and other technology are in working order for the test election.

“The most important issue is always the integrity and accuracy of the ballot,” said French. “The Dec. 9 election took place as planned and expected from the technology side. This is how elections must continue in Monmouth County.”
