Kick-off the holiday season in Monmouth County
Enjoy November and get a jump on holiday fun
FREEHOLD, NJ – The leaves are falling and so are the temperatures. The month of November is upon us and the holiday season is just around the corner.
With Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving and the start of the holiday hustle, there’s plenty to do, see, taste and hear. One thing to be thankful for this November is that you can enjoy Monmouth County; the place you want to be during the most wonderful time of the year!
Veterans’ Day ceremonies will be held throughout the County. Be sure to check with your municipality or veteran’s organization to find the closest one to you.
Don’t miss the Jersey Shore Restaurant Week that runs from Nov. 7 through 16. Restaurants throughout the entire County will offer three-course meals including appetizer, entrée and dessert for only $20.14 or $30.14.
Get a head-start on your Christmas and Hanukkah shopping from Nov. 7 through 9 in Historic Allaire Village at the annual Stocking Stuffer Sale. Visitors will enjoy hand-made holiday crafts and decorations as well as a large selection of home-made baked goods. “Our Day of Thanks,” an 1836 Thanksgiving Day celebration in Historic Allaire Village, will give you the opportunity to experience the feast as it was in the 19th century on Nov. 23.
Don’t let the turkey leave you too tired; Black Friday, the busiest shopping day of the year, starts early at the Jersey Shore Premium Outlets. The sales start at some stores as early as 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day!
Black Friday is also the first official day of the holiday shopping season, and we don’t waste any time celebrating here in Monmouth County. Jump on the Holiday Express at the Little Silver train station and ride with Santa to Red Bank where you can join the parade that takes you to a concert on Broad Street. A stroll downtown the decorated streets will surely keep your spirits aglow. Grab a bite at one of Red Bank’s notable restaurants, perhaps, as you wait for the Holiday Express concert and town lighting, which begins at 7 p.m.
On Nov. 29, the Spring Lake Christmas Celebration Kick-Off offers hayrides, music, dancers and holiday treats. Join Bradley Beach at their Tree Lighting Ceremony on Nov. 30 with refreshments, entertainment and Santa Claus beginning at 4 p.m.
As the November nip fills the air, indoor entertainment will become more enticing. Monmouth County offers many great theatre choices this month. A few options:
· “Annie Get Your Gun” is at Algonquin Arts Theatre on Nov. 1 and 2.
· Chrissie Hynde will perform at Count Basie Theatre on Nov. 2.
· The So You Think You Can Dance Tour will be at Count Basie Theatre on Nov. 5.
· Jake Miller comes to iPlay America on Nov. 12.
· “Camelot” appears at Two River Theatre, Red Bank, beginning Nov. 15.
· “Michael McDonald: This Christmas” is at Count Basie Theatre on Nov. 29.
