Economic recovery is theme of
5th Wednesday luncheon

FREEHOLD – One of the top experts on New Jersey’s economy and growth will be coming to a Monmouth County luncheon to explain the nation’s current economic crisis and what businesses and residents can expect in the near and long term.

Arthur Maurice, first vice president of the New Jersey Business & Industry Association (NJBIA), will address the Fifth Wednesday Squires luncheon at Branches, 123 Monmouth Rd., West Long Branch, on Oct. 29.

The luncheon is sponsored by the Monmouth County Department of Economic Development and Tourism, and attracts members of the county’s top business, government and civic organizations. Bea Duffy, the department’s director, presents speakers who are expert in areas of interest to those who must stay current on issues affecting the county.

“I’m very pleased to have Arthur Maurice as a speaker,” she said. “His long service to New Jersey and its people, his clear understanding of their needs and desires make him an ideal choice in these challenging economic times.”

Maurice’s resume includes being the founder and former executive director of the New Jersey Policy Research Organization Foundation; staff director of the Economic Development Committee and Tax Committee; board member of the Economic Development Association of New Jersey; a New Jersey State Museum board member, and was a member of Gov. Whitman’s New Jersey Advisory Commission on Privatization.

He received gubernatorial and legislative appointments to the State Revenue Forecasting Advisory Commission; the New Jersey Building Authority; the New Jersey Information Resources Management Commission, and the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency’s Tax Credit Allocation Committee, among others. He has been on the board of SERV Behavioral Health System Inc, the state’s largest mental health care provider, and was a member of the New Jersey Energy Master Plan Committee.

“Mr. Maurice’s address will be important to anyone who lives, works and raises a family in Monmouth County,” Duffy said. “I suggest making early reservations.”

Tickets are $30. The menu choice is sliced London broil or broiled tilapia. To make a reservation, call (732) 431-7470. Reservations are requested by Oct. 24.
