FREEHOLD, NJ –Local 4-H teen delegate Kristen Sequeira of Ocean Township represented Monmouth County at the 2014 Citizenship Washington Focus Conference last week. 4-H member Kristen Sequeira of Ocean Township (front row, 6th from the left) represented Monmouth County as part of New Jersey’s delegation at the 2014 Citizenship Washington Focus (CWF) Conference.

“The conference provides opportunities for young people to identify individual citizenship rights and responsibilities,” said Freeholder Director Lillian G. Burry, liaison to the County’s Cooperative Extension Service that includes the 4-H program. “Youth who attend this long standing conference work to identify issues facing youth while exploring causes and possible solutions. They also meet with law makers, witness government in action and develop a personal citizenship action plan.”

During the week, Sequeira and other delegates had the opportunity to visit local Washington, D.C. landmarks including the Capitol, Mount Vernon, Arlington National Cemetery, Presidential and war monuments and memorials, as well as Smithsonian museums.
