Telephone surveys about library services to begin July 7

FREEHOLD, NJ – The Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders announced today it is launching a survey beginning July 7 to gather information about how libraries can best serve the public.

“The Library offers a wide variety of programs and services to the public,” said Freeholder Director Lillian G. Burry, liaison to the Monmouth County Library. “It is important to check in with the public from time to time to make sure that they are aware of the County programs and services available to them and to find out if there is anything they may want to see added to the list of services.”

The telephone interviews will be conducted through a random selection of 400 households in areas of Monmouth County served by the Monmouth County Library. Residents 18 years or older are eligible to take part in the interview process, which will take 10 minutes.

“The telephone survey is part of a larger initiative to determine what types of services the Monmouth County Library may offer in the future,” said Burry.

The surveys will be conducted by Ivy Library, a division of The Ivy Group. The telephone interviews will gather information to help the Board of Chosen Freeholders, the County Library Commission and the Library staff understand what programs and services Monmouth County residents want at their public library in the future.

“Telephone interviews are a time-tested means of gathering information about what the public needs and wants,” said Nancy Davis, partner of The Ivy Group. “We will ask residents of the County who are served by the Monmouth County Library questions that have a direct impact on what the Library System should be considering by when it makes decisions about the programs and services it will make available.
