Clerk’s Office and child advocacy are TV topics
September show emphasizes county services and programs

FREEHOLD – “Monmouth In Focus,” the county’s monthly televised program, is on the air this September with an overview of the County Clerk’s Office and the Child Advocacy Center.

"This month's Monmouth in Focus provides residents with information on passports, the electronic recording of documents and registering to vote,” said County Clerk M. Claire French. "People can tune in to find out what they need to know about applying for a passport through my office and discover how Monmouth County has all its property deeds recorded electronically.”

“The show also provides an opportunity to update residents on the progress we have made in creating the county’s Child Advocacy Center," said Peter Boser, Assistant Prosecutor with the county’s Prosecutor’s Office and county liaison to the Child Advocacy Center. “The county has provided the land for the facility being built in Freehold Twp. that will serve as a safe, child-friendly facility for the victims of child abuse, neglect, and assault and their caregivers.”

“A single, centralized facility will co-locate the individuals who provide the law enforcement, mental health, medical, victim advocacy, and prosecutorial services, resulting in a more coordinated response and investigation into reports of child abuse,” said Martin Krupnick, Psy. D a board member of the Friends of the Child Advocacy Center. “A child will only need to travel to one location to tell their story, greatly reducing his or her trauma and stress.”

The show is a half-hour program with two, 12-minute segments. Each segment features a different aspect of county government. Shows that have already aired have focused on the county library system, park system, sheriff’s office, human services, reclamation center, bridges and roads and mosquito commission. These shows may still be viewed on the county’s Web site at www.visitmonmouth.com.

“Monmouth In Focus” is a televised companion to the county newsletter of the same name. Launched in February, the show airs on local television access channels throughout Monmouth County as well as Cablevision and Comcast networks. The show is produced at Brookdale Community College, Lincroft, with the assistance of students enrolled in the television production classes.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to bring the county’s services directly into the living rooms of our residents,” Freeholder Director Lillian G. Burry said. “Along with the county’s news-oriented Web site and recent newsletter mailing, the county is continuing its efforts to communicate consistently with residents about county services.”
