June events at the County Connection

Free seminars and programs offered throughout the month

 

NEPTUNE, NJ – The Monmouth County Connection will host several informative programs for residents during the month of June, covering a variety of issues including financial security for seniors, fraud and family genealogy.

“The County Connection is an excellent resource for our residents,” said Freeholder Director Thomas A. Arnone. “They offer a wide range of free services and seminars almost every day of the week.”

The County Clerk’s Office and Monmouth County Archives will sponsor “Genealogy Research at the Monmouth County Archives” on Wednesday, June 19 from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Reference Archivist Tara L. Christiansen will discuss numerous Archives record series dating back to the 1700s.

“We try to offer seminars about popular topics with our residents,” said County Clerk M. Claire French, who oversees the County Connection. “We know that family and security are important to our residents and we want to help preserve both.”

On Wednesday, June 26 representatives from NJ Senior Medicare Patrol and the NJ Foundation on Aging will present “Financial Security for Seniors” from 11 a.m. to noon. This interactive seminar will present an overview of the increasingly growing challenges of financial security and the emotional impact that a lack of financial security has on the senior population.

The County Department of Consumer Affairs will sponsor “Spotting Senior Scams: Be educated, Be Aware” on Thursday, June 27 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. In this informative workshop, common scams perpetrated against seniors, how to protect yourself from ID theft and frauds of all kinds will be discussed.

The County Connection also offers the following recurring programs every month:
  • Meet with a Medicare Counselor, every Wednesday, noon to 3 p.m.
  • Meet with a Monmouth County Surrogate’s Officer, first and third Thursday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Meet with Monmouth County Department of Consumer Affairs, second and fourth Thursday, noon to 3 p.m.

All programs are free and open to all Monmouth County residents, but registration is required. To register, please call 732-303-2828. 

“I encourage residents to take advantage of some of the great services provided at the County Connection,” said Freeholder Lillian G. Burry. “In addition to great workshops, the County Connection offers passport services, free notary public and many other services all free of cost.”

The Monmouth County Connection is located at 3544 State Highway 66 in Neptune, adjacent to the Home Depot and across the street from Walmart.  This office of Monmouth County government offers a variety of services including passports, passport photos, free notary public, veterans’ IDs, election/voter information, senior and veterans’ services, public access computers and more.

The office is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The County Connection is under the direction of County Clerk M. Claire French and is supported by the Board of Chosen Freeholders.
