Rumson-Sea Bright bridge forums are Jan. 23
SEA BRIGHT, NJ – Two public forums on the plans for the future of the Rumson-Sea Bright Bridge over the Shrewsbury River (Monmouth County Bridge S-32) will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 23.
An afternoon session will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. in the public meeting room of the Sea Bright Municipal Building at 1167 Ocean Ave in Sea Bright. A second public forum will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Media Room of Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School at 74 Ridge Rd. in Rumson.
Both events will be conducted in an “open house” format where display boards will provide specific information about the bridge replacement design, lighting, traffic, and other improvements at the eastern terminus of Rumson Road (County Route 520). Residents of Sea Bright and Rumson, local officials and the business community are encouraged to review the information.
“This bridge analysis is part of the county’s efforts to responsibly maintain its bridge and roadway infrastructure and to keep traffic moving,” Freeholder Director Thomas A. Arnone said. “I am pleased to report that this study of the Rumson-Sea Bright Bridge is being fully funded with federal transportation grants.”
Representatives from the Monmouth County Division of Engineering will be on hand to answer questions and to explain the project. The bridge designs will address factors related to the bridge’s load capacity, conditions, geometry, highway and pedestrian safety.
“There is no schedule for the start of construction on this bridge improvement project,” county engineer Joseph M. Ettore said. “However, we are looking forward to these meetings because public input is invaluable as we advance through the preliminary and final design of this project.”
After the Jan. 23 sessions, the information will be posted on the Engineering section of the county Web site at www.visitmonmouth.com. From the county home page, click on the link to the Department and then click on the Engineering Division to access the Rumson-Sea Bright Bridge improvement.
For those unable to attend and provide comment in person, the county will accept written comments through Friday, Feb. 22, 2013. County residents are encouraged to actively participate by providing comments at the meeting, by mail, or by e-mail.
Comments may be mailed or faxed to Inkyung Englehart, Project Coordinator, Monmouth County Department of Public Works and Engineering, Hall of Records Annex, 3rd floor, One East Main Street, Freehold, NJ 07728. The fax number is 732-431-7765. Comments may also be emailed to email@example.com.
