County to close distribution centers today
Donations still being accepted at Thompson Park
FREEHOLD, NJ – At 5 p.m. today, Monmouth County will discontinue operations at its two remaining supply distribution sites that have been in operation since Hurricane Sandy.
The two distribution sites that will close at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 11 are:
- Holy Family Church – 910 Route 36 Hazlet
- Monmouth Park – Oceanport Ave., Oceanport
The distribution sites have served our residents well over the past 11 days,” said Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden. “We thank our partners and the volunteers who helped our residents through some difficult days.”
Golden also said that Monmouth County will continue to supply needed items directly to municipalities and non-profit partners upon request.
“The need for donations continues,” Golden said.
The donation center set up at Thompson Park in Lincroft located at 805 Newman Springs Rd. will continue to accept donations from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
Towels and blankets are among the most frequently requested items. Other items still being sought for those affected by the storm are:
· Personal hygiene items
· Heavy duty trash bags
· Mops, brooms sponges
· Hand sanitizer
· Work gloves & rubber gloves
· Rakes, shovels
· Goggles

Batteries (particularly D and C)
Immediately following Hurricane Sandy, Monmouth County Office of Emergency Management mobilized resources to open three supply distribution sites for residents displaced and without power after Hurricane Sandy. Volunteers from throughout the county helped fulfill supply needs and provide assistance at all three locations.
The locations for people to pick up those items were Holy Family Church in Hazlet, Monmouth Park in Oceanport and Circle Factory Outlet (formerly known as the Peddler’s Village) in Manasquan.
