Freeholders honor volunteer Phil Finch
Veterans Service Officer helped returning soldiers get their benefits
FREEHOLD, NJ – Long-time Veterans Service Officer Phil Finch was honored by the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders Aug. 9 for his volunteer work with veterans.
For the last 10 years Finch, a resident of Howell, has volunteered his time and talents as a County Veterans Services Officer in both Ocean and Monmouth Counties, where he filed service-connected compensation and pension claims on behalf of veterans, and accessed health care services through the Veterans Administration.
In assisting veterans for both mental health counseling and health care, Finch often took the time to comfort and counsel those veterans dealing with upsetting combat related events, as there are many injuries and ailments directly related to their military service.
“Phil Finch is extremely knowledgeable on the issues that veterans face,” Freeholder Director John P. Curley said. “He did his work with tireless compassion, drive and determination and has helped many who have served our great nation in the armed forces.”
