County’s television topic for July is Human Services

Monthly show emphasizes county services and programs

FREEHOLD – “Monmouth In Focus,” the county’s monthly televised program, is hitting the airwaves this July with an overview of the county’s Human Services Department and Office on Aging.

“People can tune in to find out about the services that are utilized by one of five residents in our county,” said Freeholder Barbara J. McMorrow, who oversees the county’s Human Services Department. “This month’s Monmouth in Focus will allow viewers to get a glimpse of the many services that are just a telephone call away. Viewers may not be in need of the various social services discussed, but they may know of someone who may need help finding a job, dealing with substance abuse or finding the right care for an aging parent.”

“Monmouth In Focus” is a televised companion to the county newsletter of the same name. Launched in February, the show airs on local television access channels throughout Monmouth County as well as Cablevision and Comcast networks.

The show is a half-hour program with two, 12-minute segments. Each segment features a different aspect of county government. Shows that have already aired have focused on the county library system, park system, reclamation center, bridges and roads and mosquito commission. These shows may still be viewed on the county’s Web site at www.visitmonmouth.com.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to bring the county’s services directly into the living rooms of our residents,” Freeholder Director Lillian G. Burry said. “Along with the county’s news-oriented Web site and recent newsletter mailing, the county is continuing its efforts to communicate consistently with residents about county services.”

The show is produced at Brookdale Community College, Lincroft, by students enrolled in the television production classes.
